left overs

One of the things I love most about my job (sewing slipcovers and other home decor items) is what's left over when I'm done. I always return large pieces of fabric to the decorator or client, but I can't bear to throw away the smaller pieces. In fact, I can't even imagine such a thing. If I don't get around to using them, someone, somewhere will someday. Right?? On Saturday my highschool senior went to her senior prom. She found a pair of brown shoes she loved, to wear with her gold dress, but of course we had no luck finding a clutch to remotely match. Well, wouldn't you know, I recently made a brown linen bed skirt that was just the right color. I lined the "bed skirt clutch" with leftovers from her gold dress (a bridesmaid's dress from her sister's wedding that we shortened) and added a piece of rhinestone jewelry. Even the jewelry is a left over of a sort. I like to buy vintage jewelry that needs repair. Easy to find on "ebay", often missing a pinback, etc. You can see the dress at paperpony.net.
